Never leave home without your Passport!

Hiking 192 miles from one side of the country to the other is no stroll in the park - in fact, it’s three National Parks to be exact, with a gruelling 7000 metres of challenging ascent and an estimated 384,000 footsteps from end to end.

Tradition has it, every walker must carry in their pocket or rucksack a pebble taken from the Irish Sea at St Bees Head to drop in the North Sea at Robin Hood’s Bay.

We know you can make space for a small Passport too!

Collect stamps as you go...

The concept of collecting passport stamps during a long-distance walking trail has been around a long time – the one on the ancient Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route through southern France and northern Spain being one example – but this is the first and only official Passport stamping initiative that supports walkers on the Coast to Coast.

You will use your Passport booklet to collect stamps from agents located on route. They could be local shops; pubs and eateries; accommodation providers and tourist attractions. Many will offer discounts on their goods and services and photo opportunities to capture each milestone along the way.

The passport remains valid until you reach the end, however long it takes.

Locate the Agents

The Passport is a fun, easy to use way to record your progress along the trail. From St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay there are more than 77 agents in 29 different locations...

Agents are listed in the Passport and can be found on this map here. Every agent has a uniquely created stamp for their location. The Passport provides a space under each location for one of these to be added. You only need to acquire ONE stamp in any given location with a minimum of 10 stamps to demonstrate that you've completed your journey.

Many agents offer special deals on food, drink and useful items such as socks and boot care products, as well as reduced admission to visitor attractions...

These are all listed in the Passport and appear in a series of individual advertisements immediately after the list of the Agents. In some locations there will be many places to obtain a new stamp but in other spots there will only be one. Most agents are on the trail or very close to it. On the odd occasion you will need to make a slight detour. Whenever you come upon a Stamping Location, although you will only need to visit ONE agent to get your stamp for that location, you will be able to take advantage of as many of the Passport offers that you wish. In other words, even if you have already acquired your stamp for a specific location, you can still visit the other agents (and advertisers in the Passport) to receive the discounts. You will be asked to show your Passport to qualify for the various offers.

Celebrate!

Celebrate!

Once you have finished the route, your chosen Stamping Agent in Robin Hood’s Bay will add a special completion stamp to your Passport.

You will then need to take a quick photo of pages 132-133 showing your unique Passport number and final stamp. A completion certificate will then be emailed to you within 10 days. Congratulations - you have reached your journey's end and you will have an official certificate that can be printed out and even framed for display as a unique memento of your amazing achievement.
